The beauty and strength of Indigenous people is a stark contrast to this harsh reality. This picture honors the legacy of those Indigenous People that have been erased through policies of colonialism enacted on them since the “Discovery” of American by Europeans. It speaks to a reminder of the United States’ long trail of broken treaties, and the discomfort of how modern consumerism cannot replace the gifts that Nature gives us for free.
